The cottage is directly on the lake on the west-facing shore.
The cottage is located about 30 kms. west of city centre of the City of Timmins and 3 kms. north off Hwy. 101 W. Travel time from town is approximately 30 to 40 minutes.
The White Birch Outpost is located at the junction of Hwy 101 W. and the Star Lake Road. They carry some grocery items, have bait and tackle and are an LCBO outlet.
The rental for a week is $550.00 plus a $200 refundable damage/loss deposit for a total of $750.00. If I have nobody in the week before or the week after, we can work on the arrival and departure times. Sunday at Noon to Saturday at 8:00 PM constitutes a week. Obviously, I prefer renting by the week or month but if a time-slot is open I will rent by the day for $100/day. This is payable in advance to lock in the time period. Preferred method of payment is on-line banking e-transfer payable in full before I will guarantee the time block. You will receive that cottage in a clean and tidy state and would expect that it be returned the same way.
The cottage has 2 bedrooms. There is a double bed, double bed with bunk above and a double bed pull-out couch in the living room along with a nice, long comfortable couch on which many a nap has been enjoyed. It is suited for a family group.
The cottage is non-smoking. There are butt cans on the front and side decks with a gazebo on the front deck that is a smoking area.
Amenities include airtight wood stove, all your electric appliances and a wood cook stove, four-piece bath and including bed and bath linens. An outhouse is also available for use and will reduce the impact on the septic system. You will need to supply consumables like paper products, left-over containers, foil, saran wrap, baggies, insect repellent etc. There is satellite TV and there is Bell cell phone service. Rogers does not work out here.
There is the beach, hiking, fishing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking, educational interpretive nature trail and many other forest and beach related activities to do. Nickie’s Nature Trail is a beautiful interpretive trail system on the lake with circle routes of different lengths.
Outside are included 2 decks, a screened gazebo, BBQ, sauna, fire pit, dock, diving platform, kayak, canoe w/ life jackets and paddles for your use. Firewood and propane are provided. Motorized craft are not included. The lake boasts a good small-mouth bass fishery and large pike are being caught. My granddaughter caught a 4 and a couple 2 lb. bass off the dock along with a bunch of smaller ones. Having your own fishing boat would allow you to access great fishing on Star and surrounding lakes. There is a boat launch about 2 minutes up the road which will easily handle a 14' boat although larger craft sometimes have a tough time. You are able to tie up to the dock in front of the cottage.
We are pet friendly.
