The Nova Awards are presented annually at an elegant gala ceremony to recognize entrepreneurs whose achievements and contributions to the community distinguish them from their peers. The awards were established in 2003 as a means of recognizing the accomplishments of Timmins area businesses. The Gala Awards Night is well known for its distinctive ambience and upscale theme, and recipients have given their acceptance speeches to sold out crowds since its inception. Committee members begin planning the event about six months in advance, and meet on an ad hoc basis.
