What is Advocacy?

As the voice of business in Timmins, your Chamber often researches and develops formal policies and positions on issues of importance to its membership. For example, when DeBeers and other mining firms were having problems wading through the environmental assessment policies of the various levels of government, the Timmins Chamber developed a recommendation and policy paper which was then adopted by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. As a result, many more voices across the country are encouraging both governments to simplify and streamline their processes, which means we're one step closer to reducing the red tape our businesses face.
